Before

This Picture is what our house looked like this time last year. I just came accross this photo of when we were having our floors done mid DIY remodel. For obvious reasons we didn't put up a tree last year and we were locked to the upstairs of our house for about 3 weeks. This year we're much more into the Christmas spirit, tree and all.
OK, now onto 6 Weird Things about me,in no particular order, thanks to being tagged by Amanda!
1. I'm an obsessive hand washer
2. If I don't workout atleast every few days I turn into a total bitch and feel grumpy till I do.
3. I like to smell my dogs feet, I think you all know this one already.
4. I hate pickles. I'll eat anything else though.
5. Vacuuming the house makes the world feel like a better place in 99% of situations.
6. I had 8 Wisdom Teeth removed.

Winter, Yes! Wonderland?

It snowed all night. The news is saying that here in Parker we have got 25.5 inches of snow. The wind had slowed way down and the snow heavier now. I measured 21 inches on our deck this morning and that's after my husband snow blowed atleast that much off of it yesterday afternoon.

Everything is still closed, we have drifts that go up to 6 feet high. No one can leave their houses becuase the side roads are buried.

This picture is of our back deck, between where the benches are we have a 2 step drop down into the lawn. You can't see where the steps are, everything looks level becuase it's so buried in snow.

This picture is looking out our window into my neighbors yard.
I dont' think we;ll be able to get out of the house until Saturday. The airport which is 20 minutes East of where we are isn't going to try to open until Noon tomorrow. There are cars stranded everywhere on the news, lots of shelters setup, the National Guard is assisting in clean up. Last night we took the dogs out front to go potty cause the back was too deep and we saw a plow get stuck a couple streets over.
I think I'll finished wrapping gifts today, maybe make some Christmas gifts too. No one is going anywhere for a while.

It's most Definitely Going to be a White Christmas

It's hard to figure out just how much snow we have, there are spots where you can see grass or pavement and then right next to it a 6 Foot snow drift. Everything including the PO has closed today and even the airport says they won't attempt to move any flights in or out till tomorrow night. Here is a few pics this evening.

Our garage door has been closed all day, this has just blown in from the small gap between the driveway and the door. Nice huh?

Brrrr! I concur Carole, perfect night for a movie, fire and a few glasses of wine! you know me well!

Blizzard Numero Dos

Well it's the beginning but they say it's going to be a doozy! We're suppossed to get 3 feet by tomorrow morning. Everything is cancelled, the grocery stores were swamped this morning, the roads are dangerous and travel is not recommended. Glad I got my few Christmas errands I had left to do done yesterday. Here's what it looks like so far. Lot's of drifts in the roads I guess, I'll post more pics later.

Christmas Time Outing

Last night we went to the Botanic Gardens with my family, we had cinnamon roasted almonds which were so magical and hot apple cider. Ummmm, so good and they kept my hands warm while walking around in the 20 degree weather looking at the lights. It was a lot of fun, Britton my little nephew was really good and he got to see Santa for the 1st time ever. What is up with tha beard huh?

Well I got most of my CHristmas packages out today, I went to the PO at 2:20 and was out by 3. I still have a few more to get out but I'm still waiting for them to come in the mail, that's what I get for last minute online shopping. I still have everything to wrap for all my local friends and family, you should see my office right now, it looks likes Santa's workshop blew up in here! The dogs like it though I can tell.

Sweet Mail Day

Yesterday afternoon I received this awesome little gnome from Amanda! You sweetie! Thank you so much, I've been coveting one of these gnomes for a while over at Simple Sandy's Etsy shop! I love it! He's sitting next to a fresh batch of cranberry, walnut, oatmeal cookies that i took over to the MIL's house for Hanukkah festivities. We had a blast, I ate my weight in Latkes, oh man they are so good! We also broke in a new Hannukkah gift one of the kids got, a gorgeous Scrabble board! My team lost, yes that's right we played in team's due to the difficult nature of the game. Unfortunately, no one else thought "Knitin" was a word. COme on it's slang for, "I am sitting here being crafty and knitin". Oh well.

Hey, I also received my fabric package I've been waiting for a while now.....My Haeather Bailey Fabrics!! Yes they are here!

St. Nick and Pandora

Happy St. Nicholas Day! For a history if your not familiar with the jolly old Saint you can read about him here, a very fun and endearing read. My hubby and I are starting the tradition with our nephew/Godson tonight!
Also, if you don't know about this site run don't walk to check it out:: Pandora is an awesome site where you can have your personal streaming radio station. Just type in an artist or fav song and it will play similiar artists and music, if you like give it a thumbs up and they'll use it to pick new music or give it a thumbs down and they won't play it again. I have about 6 stations now and I'm totally addicted. Oh yeah you can send the stations to others to - Ahhh, kinda like a modern mix tape! It's free if you don't mind the ads on the page, but really it just goes in the backround while you're doing other things so who cares right? Enjoy!
P.S. Lot's of Paige Pockets coming soon to the shop!!

Thanksgiving with Family and Mail from Friends

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with 11 at our house for fried Turkey, baked ham with all the fixin's. The long weekend was a perfect mix of productivity(sewing) and relaxing. I'm thankful that most of my family lives close enough that we can spend Turkey day together.

My nephew bathed/washed the measuring cup very well in the sink after dinner, then we all watched the Broncos lose to our rivals KC.

I also received some pretty amazing and surprising mail over the weekend. I got 2 incredibly thoughtful Birthday packages from Jessica and Carole. I apologize for the poor lighting in the pictures but it was dark out when I checked the mail and I just could not wait to open these packages.

Jessica sent me a beautiful vintage hankie with apple and pears and birds on it - so great it will get framed not cut-ever!!
Then she sent me the sweetest handmade birthday scrapbook, a beautiful needlepointed bookmark (Queen Mary will be glad it's saving her place in my current read), and a gorgeous pair of earrings made by a local artist near her.

Carole sent me a few sweet goodies from Emily at the Black Apple, a gorgeous lavender sachet ornament with a sweet little bird printed on the front, a wonderful necklace made by the talented Carole herself, a bookplate
2 of the cutest tape measures for myself and my mom and some of the most appropriate cards! ;)

Both of you wow me with your kind and unexpected generosity, you know me well and I couldn't have picked out treasures for myself that are so well suited to my personality as you both did - Thank You!

A weekend of Sleeping Dogs, Ponies, and Beer

Man Griswold looks how I feel today! I just had my final visit (every other week for 8 weeks) at the dentist. I pride myself on having nice teeth and taking good care of them. Now that all my "old school" fillings are new white nano technology it is pretty exciting.

There is a new Pumpkin Harvest Clutch in the shop and a new set of Ponies!
Thanks for the good feedback on the Ponies by the way. I'll be adding a new bobbies theme soon too.

Tomorrow I'll be going to vote, like I hope everyone is - I've always been so good about voting early but not this year, I'll be going on Election Day.

By the way, The picture in the previous post was taken at Sonic at about 11pm on Saturday night. My hubby and I went to a nice Irish bar a couple of blocks away for our neighborhood's Adult party. It was a great time, we met some like minded neighbors we had never previously met. I really like our neighborhood! Anyway, we drank a little too much Irish beer and a Sonic Breakfast Burrito was oh so necessary after the bar. horrible huh? LoL

Here's the newest product addition to the shop, of course you can find this set there already, 3 more sets will be going up the rest of the evening. I hope all my lovely Blog readers love Penny as much as I am! I'm loving the 'Ponytail Gal' (coined by the great Carole) at the top of the cards!
Oh check my new hair color in the picture at the shop in this listing, it's way darker than what i normally have! Red and Brown with a little blonde left!
More later darlings...Thanks for reading btw!!

The New Oven

Well we baked french fries (we're obviously not in hibernation mode here) in the new oven this weekend. They turned out perfect. We used garlic oil, salt pepper and a bit of Thyme. Tonight I'm making corn chowder after I workout of course because once it gets cold outside here at our house we feel like eating comfort food way too much!
I hope you all had a pleasant weekend.

A wee blizzard

It's very windy and we have lots of heavy snow. The pooches and I attempted fetch but we lost both tennis balls. My hubby bought a snow thrower yesterday which we've been discussing for quite a while and we'll be testing it our shortly! Lot's of coffee drinking and soup eating here today!
I'll be adding an Adeline & matching Paige set to the shop later. Brrrrr, need more wool socks!

Cozy & Cold

Here's a new bag that's in the shop. I think I'm going to have to make more of these, I'm loving the circles and the suede which was a little weird to work with since I haven't previously is very soft.
We have a Winter storm warning here in southeast suburbia of Denver and we're expecting a blizzard tonight. Right now it's sunny, 65 degrees and a beautiful calm Fall day. Maybe it's the calm before the storm?

Meet my new friends

Not the best quality picture but here's 3 of the 4 I carved while the Husband was at Toastmasters last night. I'm hoping they'll add a little ambiance to the Chili party. Let's hope it doesn't snow so we can have a campfire and not have to sit on wet seats! I just got a fabric order in the mail, I now have the bird & forest fabric in gold and in pink too!

Let it snow Already?

Well, I guess this makes it official, I was loving Fall so much too. It just doesn't last here in Denver goes strait from Fall to Winter. Out trees still have a lot of leaves, so I'm hoping that it all melts today and the trees keep their leaves a little longer. That's the other weird thing about Denver weather, snow today and 75 the next. Let's hope this weekend is nice because we're having a party!
Today you'll see a new clutch and a few tissue holder going into the shop. I have a new bag close to being finished too.

A few new Tissue Holders

A few new tissue covers
are in the shop of course. ;)

Bags, Boobs & Teeth

Ok, so I've been a little absent from the blog lately and I hope to catch up all my blog sweethearts with my redcent doings, I have a big fresh cup of coffee sitting here with me. Here's a picture of a new bag that's of course here I struggled with a name and then went searching for most popular names in the 1930's and Doris just popped out at me. I plan on making more of these in a few variations. I have some red suede and some black boucle fabric that I'm looking forward to using. I don't know why all of a sudden I felt like making a bag with no patterned fabric, it's so unlike me! Maybe I needed an eye cleansing palette for this one.

So as promised here a few pics from the very successful Race For the Cure on Sunday, there were 65,395 participants and we had a pretty large group ourselves. This year we walked the coed race, in previous years my friend Cassie and I have run the early race and then joined our RFTC group to walk. This year we just did the walk and Cassie's mom and grandma who are both breast cancer survivors joined as they usually do. Here in interesting pic I took on the on ramp to Auraria Pkwy, you can see everyone above the bridge and below, shows you just how many people patricipated.

So the reason for not posting these pics yesterday is because I wen to the dentist yesterday and then wasn't much in a blogging mood when I returned. This new dentist I'm going to is so great(well as great as a dentist can be)! ;) He uses nano technology for fillings and does some crazy stuff with lasers, he is so passionate about his work and uses so much technology I can't even wrap my brain around it all. Anyway, we are in the process of re-doing every filling I have in my mouth with his super crazy nano technology fillings. Aparantly old school filling don't attach themselves to the tooths surface very well and therefore allow for decay between your tooth and old fillings, when this dentist does a new filling he doesn't have to give you Novocaine because it's all done with lasers. Of course since he's replacing all my old ones I had 4 shots of numbing goodness yesterday. After going to this Dr. every other dentist seems like a witch doctor.
Amazingly enough even with a crazy numb face yesterday and speaking like I had a mouth full of Jello or something I went to fabric store and a few new goodies.
Anyway, I've rambled long enough - like any of you really wanted to know that much about my mouth, right?
Anyway, keep an eye out for the most BEAUTIFUL orange knitted cap my mother brought over yesterday - it's so gorgeous I don't know if pictures will portray the glisten of the yarn! Also, another black & tan Muse cuff.
Thans for listening to my ramblings - cheers!

Etsy Treasury

The Etsy Treasury is so much fun, if you haven't checked it out yet I would recommend looking around. You can make your own list of favorites that resemble that of the lists that end up on the front page of Etsy daily. We're in 3 Treasury lists right now with a lot of other great Etsy sellers. Take a look at the shop for links to all 3.

I'll be posting some pictures from a very successful Race for The Cure later today.

I love Anthropologie

Of all the times I've been in this store I always only buy a candle or a towel, I have like 1 shirt that was burried in the sale room. Well last week I finally went in and splurged a little, ok a lot actually. I bought a pair of black pinstriped pants that feel like pj's, a blouse, a sweater vest a tee and a few drinking glasses with fancy "M"s on them. It was fun and of course initial guilt set in because I spent too much, then I came home and told the hubby, showed him everything and he was so sweet and didn't really care. Now that's great husband- thanks honey! Look at all the yellow & gold in that picture, I'm so not a yellow person usually!

Eureka, It's a Good Cause

These are 30 or so fabric buttons I made last night while watching Eureka, more on that in a sec - that will go on hair bobbies for Amanda's new endeavor, The Little Pink Box. It's kind of like the Sampler but half the proceeds go the Breast Cancer Research. Subscriptions go on sale in October, it's a great way advertise for small business and what's better than getting a cute pink box in the mail full of special surprises from lots of cool Indie Artist!

Ok, now on to Eureka, I'm not usually one to watch the SciFi Channel-really I swear. But I LOVE this show, it's about a town full of geniuses (which I just realized I can't even spell) there's a great underlying romance and lot's of funny mishaps! The really freaky thing is that the star of the show and Sheriff of the town looks EXACTLY like one of my best friends! No kidding, total spittin' image! Even has the same mannerisms! Trevor how do you do it, being a pilot and an actor! You amaze me! LOL ;)

Doggy Feet

This is Griswold and his feet, he loves to dangle them off of the stairs. He also loves to put them in my face when it's time for me to wake up. My hubby thinks i'm a little crazy but I must say how much I love the smell of my doggies feet. The vet's assistant once told me that they do sweat a little out of their pads on their feet and that she likes to smell her dogs feet too! I know you all may think I'm a total whacko now but really, they smell sweet and look how cute they are!

Finds in WI

This is some of the loot I came back from vacation with. Unfortunately my camera is on the fritz, I'm hoping it's just my rechargeable batteries that are being weird, because I love my camera! So this pic is taken with my camera phone, doesn't do this vintage fabric I found at a flea market justice, I LOVE it! Super tiny patchwork squares with great detail. Also found some good buttons, although when I showed Mike's Grandma the buttons I bought at the Antique store she said "Oh boy, you should of said you liked buttons" - and then proceeded to pull out her coffee can full and, spread on the table for atleast 2 hours of fun, she let me take what I wanted. We talked and had a couple Diet Cokes with chips and onion dip.

The blue tabacco can will become a new graphic design centerpiece for my hubby's office and the old fashioned white light switchplate will go in the guest bedroom eventually.
