Bags, Boobs & Teeth

Ok, so I've been a little absent from the blog lately and I hope to catch up all my blog sweethearts with my redcent doings, I have a big fresh cup of coffee sitting here with me. Here's a picture of a new bag that's of course here I struggled with a name and then went searching for most popular names in the 1930's and Doris just popped out at me. I plan on making more of these in a few variations. I have some red suede and some black boucle fabric that I'm looking forward to using. I don't know why all of a sudden I felt like making a bag with no patterned fabric, it's so unlike me! Maybe I needed an eye cleansing palette for this one.

So as promised here a few pics from the very successful Race For the Cure on Sunday, there were 65,395 participants and we had a pretty large group ourselves. This year we walked the coed race, in previous years my friend Cassie and I have run the early race and then joined our RFTC group to walk. This year we just did the walk and Cassie's mom and grandma who are both breast cancer survivors joined as they usually do. Here in interesting pic I took on the on ramp to Auraria Pkwy, you can see everyone above the bridge and below, shows you just how many people patricipated.

So the reason for not posting these pics yesterday is because I wen to the dentist yesterday and then wasn't much in a blogging mood when I returned. This new dentist I'm going to is so great(well as great as a dentist can be)! ;) He uses nano technology for fillings and does some crazy stuff with lasers, he is so passionate about his work and uses so much technology I can't even wrap my brain around it all. Anyway, we are in the process of re-doing every filling I have in my mouth with his super crazy nano technology fillings. Aparantly old school filling don't attach themselves to the tooths surface very well and therefore allow for decay between your tooth and old fillings, when this dentist does a new filling he doesn't have to give you Novocaine because it's all done with lasers. Of course since he's replacing all my old ones I had 4 shots of numbing goodness yesterday. After going to this Dr. every other dentist seems like a witch doctor.
Amazingly enough even with a crazy numb face yesterday and speaking like I had a mouth full of Jello or something I went to fabric store and a few new goodies.
Anyway, I've rambled long enough - like any of you really wanted to know that much about my mouth, right?
Anyway, keep an eye out for the most BEAUTIFUL orange knitted cap my mother brought over yesterday - it's so gorgeous I don't know if pictures will portray the glisten of the yarn! Also, another black & tan Muse cuff.
Thans for listening to my ramblings - cheers!

Etsy Treasury

The Etsy Treasury is so much fun, if you haven't checked it out yet I would recommend looking around. You can make your own list of favorites that resemble that of the lists that end up on the front page of Etsy daily. We're in 3 Treasury lists right now with a lot of other great Etsy sellers. Take a look at the shop for links to all 3.

I'll be posting some pictures from a very successful Race for The Cure later today.

I love Anthropologie

Of all the times I've been in this store I always only buy a candle or a towel, I have like 1 shirt that was burried in the sale room. Well last week I finally went in and splurged a little, ok a lot actually. I bought a pair of black pinstriped pants that feel like pj's, a blouse, a sweater vest a tee and a few drinking glasses with fancy "M"s on them. It was fun and of course initial guilt set in because I spent too much, then I came home and told the hubby, showed him everything and he was so sweet and didn't really care. Now that's great husband- thanks honey! Look at all the yellow & gold in that picture, I'm so not a yellow person usually!

Eureka, It's a Good Cause

These are 30 or so fabric buttons I made last night while watching Eureka, more on that in a sec - that will go on hair bobbies for Amanda's new endeavor, The Little Pink Box. It's kind of like the Sampler but half the proceeds go the Breast Cancer Research. Subscriptions go on sale in October, it's a great way advertise for small business and what's better than getting a cute pink box in the mail full of special surprises from lots of cool Indie Artist!

Ok, now on to Eureka, I'm not usually one to watch the SciFi Channel-really I swear. But I LOVE this show, it's about a town full of geniuses (which I just realized I can't even spell) there's a great underlying romance and lot's of funny mishaps! The really freaky thing is that the star of the show and Sheriff of the town looks EXACTLY like one of my best friends! No kidding, total spittin' image! Even has the same mannerisms! Trevor how do you do it, being a pilot and an actor! You amaze me! LOL ;)

Doggy Feet

This is Griswold and his feet, he loves to dangle them off of the stairs. He also loves to put them in my face when it's time for me to wake up. My hubby thinks i'm a little crazy but I must say how much I love the smell of my doggies feet. The vet's assistant once told me that they do sweat a little out of their pads on their feet and that she likes to smell her dogs feet too! I know you all may think I'm a total whacko now but really, they smell sweet and look how cute they are!

Finds in WI

This is some of the loot I came back from vacation with. Unfortunately my camera is on the fritz, I'm hoping it's just my rechargeable batteries that are being weird, because I love my camera! So this pic is taken with my camera phone, doesn't do this vintage fabric I found at a flea market justice, I LOVE it! Super tiny patchwork squares with great detail. Also found some good buttons, although when I showed Mike's Grandma the buttons I bought at the Antique store she said "Oh boy, you should of said you liked buttons" - and then proceeded to pull out her coffee can full and, spread on the table for atleast 2 hours of fun, she let me take what I wanted. We talked and had a couple Diet Cokes with chips and onion dip.

The blue tabacco can will become a new graphic design centerpiece for my hubby's office and the old fashioned white light switchplate will go in the guest bedroom eventually.

I'm such a ninny!

Ok, thanks to Carole, I realized that no comments were showing up on my blog, here I thought everyone just decided to leave me!
I turned on word verification after the full frontal spam incident and didn't realize that I needed to approve all the comments before they were published, oh man don't tell my hubby! ;) he would laugh at me!
Anywho, I got it figured out now. I might turn it back off so while I'm gone I can just log in to see any comments without the whole approval thing so I apologize in advance for any porn that may show up while I'm on vacation.
Thanks to everyone for all the nice comments about the dining room, it wa spart of aar ecent remodeling project, I'll post before photos sometime.

I'll be taking pics with the trusty camera phone while I'm gone to Black River Falls WI!

Cheers!

Achooooo!

Sorry for the bad picture but I'll making more of these tissue cozies to add to the shop. It probably won't be till I get back from vacation next week though. I have to be my OCD self and make sure the house is spotless and all the laundry is done before we leave on Friday. I finally found these Puffs To Go, they are the perfect shape, a square not a rectangle for the tissue cozy I wanted to make. Walgreesn's is the only place that had this brand! Yea Walgreen's!

Friday night with the Ladies

Book Club is at my house, I made my favorite *dinner* for the ladies:

Strawberries & Grapes, Goat cheese & Rasberries with honey and pear brandy, chocolate covered pretzels, brie and rosemary, pepper crackers, Boursin, pistachios and lots of wine!

It was a great night, everyone had an excellent time and we're reading Devil in The White City now.

My new Source of Inspiration

This pretty little lady on my wrist is my new Muse. Doesn't matter if I'm typing, sewing, driving or waving at someone she's always right there!

My mom made her and we are adding a few to the shop tomorrow! She is so soft and silky, I want one in every color mom! ;)

Why is Hose Water Better?

After a game of fetch which Griswold is completely obsessive over. Did you see the movie Spanglish? He's just like the lab in that movie - throw the ball at your own risk cause he may not ever let you stop. The boys were getting some fresh water and even as it over flowed from the bowl they didn't care, cause apparently it tastes better directly from the hose.

Goofballs!

Blue Tape & Comedy

Ok, so I've been neglecting my blog big time this week! My DH and I are trying to finish the panel molding we started a very long time ago on our stairs. It's all been up and nailed for a while but we had the taping, caulking, and now the painting to still do. This is on our remodel list that we started back in April of '05. After the stairs it's on to the upstairs for remodeling. The 1st floor is finished with the exception of my picture Gallery I need to do in the hallway and a few other odds and ends. As for the upstairs, my office is already done so we have the guest bedroom, the someday it will be a nursery room and the master. Already tired thinking of it.

Tonight were going with a few friends to see Josh Blue, the winner of Last Comic Standing and a bit of a local celebrity now, at the Gothic Theater - should be a good time. I need to find a cool restaurant to check out by there. The Gothic Theater is a great small venue and it's been around forever. My mom used to makeout with boys in the balcony when she was in junior high - sorry to embarras you mom!! ;)

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
Cheers.

My sewing compnion today is good ol' Neil, there's nothing like a litte 'Sweet Caroline' or 'Kentucky Woman' to help you groove while sewing!

Hope you're all having a super weekend!

This was the 100th item sold this morning from the MaryMo Shop! I was pretty excited. Hopefully the 2nd 100 items will be as fun as the 1st! I'm really looking forward to fall items, it is a fun season to accessorize, and I know mom is all over fall, she already has a few things made that I'm going to have to convince her to make for me too!

Well, gotta get a lot of work done so I can sew tonight - Happy Hump Day!

New Drink

This is my new favorite summer drink.

3/4 Diet Sierra Mist (I don't know why but I like this better than Sprite)

add about 3 Muddled mint leaves, Pomegranite Juice and garnish with more mint.

It's so refreshing and delicious, and full of antioxidents! Rum is optional! ;)

Friday WIP

Here's what I'm working on tonight and this weekend. A Paige Pocket for Amanda tonight, wristlet for a new customer, Paige Pocket for the shop and a new little product that only Sara has been privy too when she receives her package! Oh, and one other new thing that smells very nice! ;)
I took the photo on my sewing table because I had to show off my newly organized sewing drawer. It used to look like huge tarantula who spins fiber webs lived in there, but no more. - All neat!
Have a Super weekend!

Neighborly Bouquet & a Corner of my Home

Yesterday morning my hubby and I decided to make a fruit pizza for breakfast, for those of you who didn't make these every summer on vacation like I got to as a kid, here's the scoop:
I giant pizza sized sugar cookie
atleast half a tub of (lite) Cool Whip
as many berries and fruits as you can fit on the top!

Taadaa, fruit pizza! We each had 2 huge pieces with our coffee and realized the other 5 were not going to get eaten - way to much sugar and caffeine. So I ran them across the street to our friends who have 4 kids and they loved it! She brought me this sweet bouquet of flowers all from her yard as a thank you! Aren't they pretty?

They're on my kitchen table which is one of those high top tables, not sure how that will work someday when we have kiddos who require high chairs, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it! The painting in the background is one my mother in law painted for us, it's from the Il Bastardo wine label. She made a 2nd one with a twist that's for sale.

Cheers!

Contest Winner

My husband was on a phone call this evening when I wanted to pick a winner so I let the dogs pick. Each of your names(yes embee you weren't too late) ;) were printed on a small piece of paper, I folded them up, and let Gus start eating the one he wanted. As you can see he was really excited (yawn) to pick a winner. Well the gooey one he spit out was Sara's. Congratulations Sara!! Sara I think i have your address already but just to confirm shoot me an email at newsletter{at}marymo.biz and confirm for me your mailing address.

Thanks to all of you for participating in my little contest! I'll have to do it again soon.

Cheers!

New Tunes

My husband is so good at finding cool music. Recently he found a lot of good stuff but one thing that I'm really excited about is Frou Frou. We recently watched Garden State for the 2nd time, we love that movie! The movie was written by Zach Braff of Scrubs fame, which we also love! Anyway, Zach wrote the script and starred in the movie and if you haven't seen it I'd highly recommend it. The theme song is done by Frou Frou and their whole album Details, is really great!
I guess the woman in Frou Frou was in Imogen Heap 1st or in addition too, anyway their music is really cool too. If you liked 'Let Go' the theme on Garden State you would like both albums. Good music to sew to! ;)
How I can listen to Frank Sinatra for 8 hours strait and then go to Frou Frou is a little weird.

Random Italian restaurant find by swedish hospital. Nice atmosphere, good wine.

A Contest

ok, Finally! I've been meaning to do this since I got back from vacation and that was over 2 weeks ago! Here's the deal, I have a little something I made, no I'm not gonna tell you what it is, but I promise you'll be happy to receive it in the mail if you are the winner! Leave me a comment on this post, tell me your name atleast and then in about 24 hours or so I'll randomly pick a name who will be the winner. I'll post the winner's name and then they can email me their address.

Good Luck!

Loving my new labels

Although I purchased these labels for my bags a few weeks ago from Emily's Etsy shop I'm just so excited about them as I sew this evening. They are the perfect size and I'm glad to finally have a "signature" on my stuff. Even Chris the nice guy at the post office was bothering me about how I need labels in my products, and that only a real Paige Pocket should say MaryMo in it. He was being very nice and I think he's right. So I searched high and low for something reasonably priced, well made and that I could see before buying. Who knew I'd end up buying from a fellow Etsyian? So for now on everything bought from MaryMo will have sweet little labels sewn in.

Red Cross Knit Kit

The American Red Cross has reissued there original World War ll Servicemen's socks knitting pattern in a kit that come with yarn and needles in this collector's tin. It's part of their vintage line. I'm not sure if any of the purchase price goes to the organization but it looks like you can add a donation if you'd like to. I think this is a really cool gift idea for anyone who knits, I just had to pass it along.
Cheers!

Sneak Peek

Here is a sneak peek at a few new things to come in my shop! These are nearly finished, I'll be making an update middle of the week. Oh man I am so excited about these new bags I'm actually giddy! I've been trying to make something like these for a while but not until recently did I find the perfect girl! ;)

My Whiplash Bag Entry

This is a wristlet I made for my vacation to Las Vegas a week ago. The idea came from the National Lampoon's Vegas Vacation movie and Ellen's obsession with Wayne Newton. Her totally hot gold shirt with "Wayniac" accross the chest was so funny!

I made this out of one of Isaac Mizrahi's napkins from Target, some black velvet as the lining that I already had and some sequin letters from Michael's.

whipupI guess this would apply best to the Fancy category. Cheers!

Back to the Real World

Ahh, the Monday after a vacation is so much fun. I was actually really productive today, I thought I would be dragging but not so much actually. After a bit more catching up I plan on adding some new items to the shop I can't wait to dig into my new fabric and suede! I'm starting to think Fall already.
My husband and I are always terrible about having people photograph us on vacation, we usually take a bunch of pictures of scenery, buildings etc. and get home only to realize you would never know by looking at our pictures that we were even there. So this is a picture of us at Fleur de Lys we had a nice drink there and the dining room looked amazing, however we decided not to eat there. The menu was a little too exotic for our taste and the font on their menu was hideous, probably the same as at TGIF's. We decided we're font snobs, it was really bad.
My favorite place to eat in Vegas now is most definitely Red Square, I had the most decadent meal ever - Lobster & Black Truffle Fettuccine! Wow, I would go back for that alone!
